What sells
Original pressings of classic rock, soul and Motown, ’90s hip-hop and alternative, jazz, soundtracks and anything still sealed move fastest. Common easy-listening and holiday records sell best bundled as a lot. LPs, 45s, 78s, box sets and picture discs each have their own format, so buyers can filter for exactly what they spin.
Condition tips
Grade the record, not just the jacket. Hold the vinyl under a bright light and look for scuffs you can feel, warps and groove wear, then note seam splits, ring wear and writing on the cover. Say whether the inner sleeve and inserts are there. An honest “Very Good” with clear photos sells faster than an optimistic “Like New.”
Pricing it right
Snap the front and back of the jacket and tap Auto-fill: AI reads the photos and fills in the artist, title, year, format and tracklist. Then Get a price suggests a fair local cash range and opens Discogs and eBay sold links so you can check what that pressing actually sold for. Adding the barcode narrows it down on newer pressings.
Meeting up
Let buyers flip through the records before they pay. Bring them in a crate or sturdy bag so jackets don’t bend, meet somewhere public and well lit, and keep it cash.
💵 Cash, meet local, no shipping. Meet in a busy public place or a police safe-exchange zone, inspect before you pay, and keep the chat on Physical Media Market. Safe meetup tips
